HARVEST FESTIVAL

The RISD Demo Garden is hosting its very first Harvest Dinner Party this Friday October 22nd from 6:30-8:30pm. We will have food featuring fresh herbs from the garden and locally produced vegetables. Come and enjoy the cool weather with a cup of hot cider!

Hannah Marcotti's general rule when it comes to tasting her healthy and admittedly off-color creations is to continue tasting and trying steadily for a week before making up your mind. But after our first gulp, we had no problem disobeying: from organic smoothies to fudge, we were astounded at how nutritious and surprisingly delicious her recipes were.

A new event for the calendars: On March 15th we'll be taking trips to the Southside Community Land Trust's annual plant sale from RISD. More details to come in the future. Hope this beautiful weather has everyone jumping with joy and wanting to plant!

Over ten new planters, made from the remains of freshmen foundation easels, are happily sprouting herbs and vegetables in RISD dorms and apartments!

Well, since you're old

enough now to know the truth, they are banished to the dark and foreboding easel graveyard. However, we've come to give these

discarded souls some new use.

Using broken easels, we'll make & plant portable planter boxes to fit in your dorm or room, with knowledge of how much (o

r little) sunlight you get in your planter's future home.

Bombs Away!

Armed with compost and wildflower seeds, the RISD Demo Garden's seed bomb workshop exploded with guerilla-ready gardeners.

We crafted 'seed bombs,' a mixture of clay, compost, and seed rolled into balls. After drying, the bombs can be thrown into fields, gardens, plots, nooks, and crannies to break and spread seeds.

With over 300 bombs made, expect to see a more flowery
